Our new Nursery children had the opportunity to visit our wowderful school this week and meet their new teachers. We are very excited to welcome the new children through our doors in September!

The fire fighters of Barry visited  our school this week to share the importance of fire safety over the upcoming months. Our children had the opportunity to discuss how we stay safe at home and in school. Some of us even got the chance to dress up as a fire fighter!

This week Afternoon Acorns had their Show and See and Morning Mesen enjoyed their graduation.  All the children had a fantastic time sharing their learning experiences and  favourite features of Dosbarth Mesen with their families. A huge thanks to all that came and made the day so special.

Three Digital Leaders from Dosbarth Derw progressed to the British finals of the coding cup in Reading this week. Unfortunately they weren’t able to add another title to the national Championship secured last month. But their game and their marketing strategy were highly commended by the judges at Microsoft Headquarters.

Dosbarth Derw shared their Summer production, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with their families this week. The performances reflected all the hard work put in by the children and their passion for Shakespeare! The production was followed by a party in the sunshine where we all had the chance to reflect on the year and enjoy some cake. Thanks to all that came and made the evening so magical.

Today we say farewell to 3 members of staff. Mr Johnson the Foundation phase LSA and Miss Glover have been great additions to the school and played a big part in making Barry Island Wowderful, we wish them the best of luck for the future.

We also wish the fantastic Miss Cadman farewell. It is impossible to put Miss Cadman’s contribution to Barry Island Primary School into words, we appreciate all you have done to make our children and staff shine! Good luck in your new school.

We would like to wish you all a very fun filled and safe holiday. We look forward to seeing you all back here for the first day of school in September ready and raring to go!
