Members of Dosbarth Bedwen and Derw returned yesterday from their visit to Amsterdam. Children visited the Van Gogh museum, Anne Frank House, enjoyed a cruise on the canal and had a day of thrills and fun at the Efteling theme park. Children on the trip were exceptionally well behaved and represented our school in the best way possible.

Dosbarth Celyn have had two workshops this week to pilot a new digital Literacy game with Bombastic. They created mythical creatures and script writing for fantasy adventure. Year 4 also met with Cymclydach Primary in the Rhondda, at Barry Island Beach to compare and contrast localities and share their ideas and thoughts on the beach environment. After paired interviews the children played team games and ended the hot afternoon with a paddle in the sea.

Today our Tag Rugby Team participated in a festival on Whitmore Bay where they competed against other local schools. All children had a great time and we were extremely proud of their best behaviour throughout the day.

We hope you enjoyed reading your child’s annual report. Please can you return the annual report reply slips as soon as possible as your comments or acknowledgement are greatly valued. See your child’s teacher if you would like to arrange an appointment to discuss the report in more detail.

Next week the children will get the opportunity to meet their new class teacher and have the opportunity to begin to get to know each other and ask questions about the next academic year. Mr. Gilbert will also be visiting classes over the next few weeks to begin to get to know children, staff and families.

A reminder that work will be commencing on the re-building of the perimeter wall on Phyllis Street and Archer Road over the next few weeks. To ensure the safety of our children the small playground for playtimes will not initially be used. There will be limited disruption to our school day.  We ask that everyone observes the signage and pedestrian access during this time on Clive Road and Archer Road as there will be partial and complete pavement closures.  We appreciate your co-operation with this.
