Newsletter Friday 19th June 2015

We were pleased to announce on Wednesday this week that Mr Gilbert has been appointed as the new Headteacher of our school. We are very much looking forward and excited that Mr Gilbert will be joining us in September.

All of us at BIPS would like to congratulate Miss Lewis in securing a new role as the Deputy Headteacher at Cymclydach Primary School in Rhondda Cynon Taff. Miss Lewis has been on secondment since January and we wish her every success. Diolch yn fawr iawn Miss Lewis.

This week has been Design Technology week. Following on from the entrepreneurial project in my money week, each class has taken orders placed by everyone who came out in support of our school fayre. We have been busily developing, making, building, sewing and creating to deliver our products to our customers.

A HUGE thank you to the PTA for our summer fayre last Saturday. We raised over £1000! The PTA are extremely keen to support the development of our playground and will be contributing to the purchase of new equipment for our school. Watch this space!

Great job

Llongyfarchiadau to our Tag Rugby team who played in the Atomic rugby tournament held at Holm View Leisure Centre. The team won 9 out of 10 games and made Mrs Martyn and the whole school very proud! Da iawn.

sports day

Next Wednesday {weather permitting} is sports day at Maslin Park.  In the event of rain we will advise parents via Twitter and Facebook of any decision to postpone by 8.30 for KS2 and 12pm for Foundation Phase.  We ask all children to dress in house colours and suitable PE kit.  Please be prepared for sun and wear sun cream, hats and bring a drink.  The safety of children is paramount and we kindly request parents to stay on the opposite side of the track when supporting our BIPS athletes.

We will be hosting the annual Scholastic book fayre next week.  The fayre will be open after school until 15.45 every day.  Please pop in and take a look.

Year 6 have been filmed and interviewed by ITV and will hopefully appear on the news tonight (or tomorrow if something pressing arises) to tell them about their NASA experience and what skills and learning they got from the trip. They discussed how the trip and challenges will develop them in the future – dreams and aspirations.
