Classes have participated in a Story Telling extravaganza! Each class has learnt a series of oral story telling movements from the Pie Corbett programme. Children have performed short stories in special assemblies. Each activity is aimed at developing vocabulary and developing story telling skills. We cant wait to see what writing we produce with our new WOW words.

Dosbarth Ceirios invited their buddies in Dosbarth Celyn to join in with a “play day” on the beach, which was fun for everyone despite an unexpected downpour of hail and rain. We played games and told stories beneath the shelter as we waited for the weather to brighten up.

Dosbarth Celyn went back in time to visit Caerleon and the Roman ruins. They dressed up for the occasion and had an incredible time putting what they had learnt during the term into a real-life context. It was great to role-play gladiators in the Amphitheatre. What a day!

Dosbarth Hywen held a “wowderful” show and see whereby parents learnt all about Carnivals, used Hwb+ and had craft experiences. A truly enjoyable afternoon. Diolch yn fawr iawn, pawb.

A range of interesting and exciting e-cadet activities have been completed by classes as part of our Digital Literacy week. Each class has been given the opportunity to develop understanding of staying safe online and shared ideas for how the school and it’s children can be even better. We are excited to share all the ideas and implement them around the school.

It is with much regret that Miss Cadman has announced that she will be leaving Barry Island Primary School. She will be moving on to a new role in the next academic year as the Deputy Headteacher at Ysgol Y Ddraig Primary school. Miss Cadman has worked at BIPS for many years and we wish her every success in her new role. You will be missed!

We have enjoyed another term of learning with lots of fun and look forward to the next half of the summer term, returning to school on Monday 1st June with smiles and the hope of sunshine. Please remember to stay safe while having a fantastic half-term holiday.
